Vehicles and Equipment

JSAR relies on the support of the community through its fundraising efforts, occasional key donations and the support of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Because of donations and JCSO’s partnership, JSAR is able to operate a pair of vehicles equipped to perform its mission.

The Tacoma is our primary response vehicle. It is outfitted for a wide variety of SAR functions including technical rescue, backcountry rescue, basic life support and radio communications. This vehicle was donated to JSAR in 2018. The former ambulance, now outfitted with search and rescue equipment, was furnished by JCSO in 2018.
JSAR purchases and maintains modern equipment to support our technical rescue capability.
Four Garmin inReach satellite communicators, part of a significant donation to JSAR in 2018. This donation has allowed our teams to communicate when radios are ineffective, a common event in the remote regions of the Olympics.
