Personal Gear

When deploying with JSAR into the field for training or a mission, each member is carries everything they need for around 24 hours of operations and unanticipated circumstances. What we call our “24-hour pack” is each member’s backpack packed with the things they need for this period.

You’ll need space remaining for JSAR group gear (rope, rigging equipment, medical kit, insulation for search subjects, etc.) and for additional personal gear on longer assignments.

Each individual customizes their pack, and kit varies greatly by season and mission. The following is a rough guideline for a minimum JSAR 24-hour pack.
